The Ballet Flamenco of Andalusia is a project of the Andalusian Institute of Flamenco belonging to the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions of the Andalusian Regional Government.

It was created in 1994 with the main objective of contributing to the development of the interpretation, creation, production and dissemination of Andalusian dance, with special emphasis on flamenco languages. Throughout its trajectory, the BFA has reaped important achievements as an artistic company, as well as great success with audiences and critics, which have been recognised in its history with prizes and awards, including the National Choreography Award and several Max Awards and Giraldillos from the Seville Flamenco Biennial.

The company has been an inexhaustible talent reserve, which has produced great figures of modern dance such as Rubén Olmo, Israel Galván, Isabel Bayón, Rafael Campallo, Belén Maya, Fernando Romero, Mercedes Ruiz, María José Franco, Juan José Jaén ‘El Junco’, Patricia Guerrero and Rafaela Carrasco.

Nowadays, the Ballet Flamenco de Andalusia is an emblem of Andalusian culture, of flamenco art and of the values and feelings of a people: the Andalusian people. A company that will continue to spin the most representative art of Andalusia, wherever the steps of flamenco dance reach.
